WIRE WONDERS. Lester A. Bartlett says within thirty days the Postal Telegraph Company will operate a near flawless New York to Chicago line with poles up along almost the entire distance. The firm makes its own copper plated steel wire and plans further links to Philadelphia Baltimore Washington and Boston then to New Orleans and across the Atlantic via French cable connections. The system uses a Leggo apparatus to send writing on paper via wire with high speed and accuracy and promises vast improvements in message speed over current Morse lines.
