Weeds invade farm ponds says U.S. SCS official in Waterloo

U.S. Soil Conservation Service official Nolan A. Walker warns weeds plague farm ponds. Since 1949 about 325 ponds in Monroe County benefited from SCS and county district cooperation with 10 to 12 new ponds yearly. He outlines chemical control steps and cautions that treating more than one third of a pond at a time risks oxygen depletion and fish kills.
