Farmers Home Administration offers 62+ residents in rural towns of 2500 or less 33 year loans at 4 percent to buy repair or build homes. The program also funds senior rental housing with FHA guarantees or direct loans at favorable rates. A tornado and high winds damaged barns sheds and property across Boxtown last Wednesday afternoon. Two small twisters likely caused most destruction near the Henerfauth and Schultheis properties with debris scattered for yards. No injuries reported as farm buildings and implements were destroyed or damaged.

Walter Reichert 56 manager of Mon Clair Grain & Seed Co. suffered a broken leg and cuts in a head on crash on Route 3 three miles south of Columbia. Gary F. Mueller of Waterloo drove into Reichert’s lane, colliding as Reichert headed to work at the co op office in Waterloo. Reichert case reported satisfactory. Mueller treated for minor facial abrasions. Reichert lives in East Carondelet and is a St. Elizabeth's Hospital patient in Belleville.
