A Feb 16 meeting is planned in New Athens and state funds support library expansion statewide with a 4.7 million dollar appropriation. Weinel Injured In Auto Crash On Palmer Hill Road
F W Weinel suffered bruises in a two car collision on Palmer Hill Cemetery Road while returning home Monday around 5 p m. His westbound car struck an east bound car driven by Mrs Floyd Payne. Weinel was taken to Memorial Hospital Belleville and released Wednesday. Mrs Payne had minor injuries.

Four Teens Arrested In Dupe High School Burglary
Police report four teenage boys from East St. Louis Cahokia and Dupo were arrested after burglarizing Dupe High School on Saturday night. They admitted stealing over 100 dollars mainly from a student lounge juke box and vandalizing the building. Chief Don McClenahan said about 70 dollars was recovered. a vault key was not found. The Dupo School Board will press burglary charges with juvenile authorities.

Gray announced the U S Corps of Engineers approved a 19 million dollar contract to Eugene Luhr Co Massman Construction Co and Patton Tulley Transportation Co for work on the Mississippi River between Cairo and Chester Illinois. The joint venture will include construction using 1.1 million tons of shovel run stone and 20 thousand tons of bank paving stone.
