Dr. R W Elrod of the United States Department of Agriculture arrives at the Maury County Hog Cholera Eradication Association office to begin a several month campaign. He comes from Adel where eradication has progressed for a year and joins a growing federal team likely to double as needed.
Gerald Howard, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Howard, received a bachelor of science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His graduation thesis was titled An innovative of the economic height walls. He completes a notable credential from a leading engineering school after substantial practical engineering experience.

Government officials in Maury County begin a county wide speaking tour Thursday at 9 oclock to explain hog cholera work and collect data on hog populations and losses. They will not inoculate until information is gathered, with meetings at Lumsden's Store Kedrony Spring Hill Beechland School and other sites through June 15.
William Barker secretary of the late progressive committee returned from Chattanooga where a full discussion found no decision on calling a state convention. They expect a conclusion before month’s end. Committee reports party conditions across the state are generally good with some East Tennessee counties favoring the progressive ticket. No platform discussion occurred, as a convention would decide that point.
Two year old Josephine Latta Gartner, daughter of Mr and Mrs Nolan Gartner, died at home after a brief illness. Funeral services are set for Tuesday at 10 30 am at the residence with Dr W T Haggard officiating and Rosé Hill Cemetery as the place of interment.
Mrs. M. L. Erskine, 71, once of Maury County and later a Memphis resident, died Tuesday night at 8 15 at her brother Washington Gordon's home. Surrounded by her brothers W B, T Ed, Hugh of Los Angeles, and Charles Gordon of Lardis, she left six children, three sons Washington, William, Albert, and three daughters Loulie, Laura Erskine, and Bessie Gill. Funeral directors Opkes & Nichols to take remains to Memphis for interment Wednesday evening at 6 with burial planned Thursday.
County Court Clerk Sam Kelly oversees the division of the 1695 estate of Smith Batson in Clarksville Tennessee. With no wife or children, the eight siblings or their heirs divide the estate among 88 beneficiaries across four generations. The largest share is 15 onesighth and the smallest 1896. This probate marks a record volume for the clerk's office.

Mt Pleasant Tenn June 10 Lealle Potts a young white man employed by the Phosphate Co was repairing a washer at their plant near town when he slipped and fell to the ground breaking an arm chin and collarbone and suffering other serious injuries He is in precarious condition.
Herman D Ruhm a former Nashville resident who helped build the phosphate boom and fortune has been visiting old friends in Mt Pleasant. He oversees mining interests there and earlier moved to Buffalo N Y where he became president of Niagara Alkali Company.
