A. G. Wilkins of Cullman Alabama was arrested at the union depot Friday night on a charge of jumping his bond for selling whisky. He fled Cullman after bond, prompting local officers to pursue him. He awaits transfer to Cullman as authorities from Alabama soon arrive to take him back. Cullman cases tied to State Model License League bonfire literature noted in the gubernatorial contest.
The Maury Motor Company announced a sale and delivered a fifty horsepower automobile to John Freer. The firm also reported receiving another car load of Ru lela, indicating an ongoing supply to customers and potential expansion in deliveries.
Alderman J M Dedman introduced a resolution at the Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting to purchase a light aerial truck for Columbia's fire department. He noted the great advantage for the firemen and the matter was referred to the fire committee to secure prices and specifications.

Police Barker Lancaster and Peyton arrested him late Thursday while he was with a woman. He faced liquor selling accusations and had posted bond for his appearance. He said they planned a short trip to Nashville and did not intend to flee.
Telegram reports Clifford Foxall of Columbia was killed Sunday evening by train robbers while serving as a Southern Railway brakeman in Alabama. He was 21, son of Mr Lee Foxall, with funeral plans set for Roger Hill residence, conducted by Rev W T Hegeard.
Plaintiffs Patterson and Bailey are awarded verdicts Friday in damage cases heard in the Circuit Court. The decision marked wins for both plaintiffs as juries returned damages in their favor.

The Glendale Lodge Knights of Pythias decorated the graves of two lodge members in Rose Hill cemetery and held services at 2 PM Saturday. The graves of J W Journey and Joseph F Fleming were adorned with flowers. the service was postponed from last Sunday due to member absences.
Reverend M E Gabard formerly pastor of First Cumberland church was installed last Sunday as pastor of the Presbyterian U S A churches at Mayesville and Gurley Ala. He is in Columbia this week visiting old friends.
Zimmerman shot Tom Street and a negro in the arm as they resisted arrest after escaping from the Hampshire workhouse. Jenkins and Street fled. Street halted to pick up a rock and was shot, while Jenkins escaped. Zimmerman, a Hampshire area resident, had been deputized by Mr. Akin during the search.
Haaroun completed 260 miles in 8 hours 20 minutes 24 seconds at Indianapolis on May 20th, driving at speeds over 80 miles per hour at times. Ten cars finished, eight using Michelin tires, marking a new world record and placing Haaroun among the all-time greats in automobiling.
Rev W B Capers president of Columbia Institute will leave Wednesday for an extended trip through the Southern States to promote the institution. He plans to visit Arkansas Mississippi and Alabama, states that contribute significantly to the school each year. Capers says he expects interest and patrons to grow, with additions to the boarding department this year and a brighter outlook for local patronage.
The firm of Dobbins and Ewing will begin brickwork on a new hardware store on West Seventh Street within two weeks after their May 12 blaze. Debris from the basement is being cleared and plans for the replacement are being drafted. Forgey Bros cleared debris from their livery stable and weigh options for rebuilding. The lot is owned by W. Brans and others.
