Maury County Leads in State Dog License Funds
Maury County led Tennessee in dog license collections for 1907 with 745 female dogs registered since July 1. Decoy Letters Get Cleak in Trouble
Frank Lease a Bloomington post office clerk was arrested on charges of sifting letters containing money. A decoy letter was placed on the Monon Mall and found in Lease's possession after he failed to produce it. He confessed as marked money was located at his home. Investigations are ongoing. Lease, 23, married with one child, had two years of service at the post office.

New York January 3 Governor Hughes declines to accept a claim for $1,000,000 in defaulted Carolina State bonds offered by a committee. He says it is improper to accept gifts of claims to prosecute against another state. The committee had sought his action to collect these bonds under a 1905 law.
