Horrific death at Blue Grass Avenue crossing
Chester Crawford, a Black man, was killed at the Blue Grass Avenue railroad crossing in Mt. Pleasant Tennessee about 9 o clock Saturday night. He was struck by a freight train as he crossed the track the locomotive and several cars passed over him leaving his head severed and his body badly mangled.

Attempted assassination targets City Marshal Dark in Lewisburg
A Monday night attempt on City Marshal Steve Dark near Berlin left him bullet wounded in the bowels. Four masked men held him up, took his pistol, and fired. his horse ran away. Dark, found about a mile from the city, remains seriously hurt though alive. Doctors have not located the bullet, and Dark could not name his assailants.
