Senate panel trims Carter water projects to nine

The Senate Appropriations Committee killed nine of Carter’s planned water projects in a bipartisan move aimed at avoiding a veto. The measure funds a broad $10.4 billion public works package but drops nine projects including Grove Lake Reservoir in Kansas and LaFarge Lake in Wisconsin, while preserving others like Applegate Lake and Atchafalaya Bayous.
