Winter storms close I-80 and slow Colfax travel
A pair of back to back storms hit Colfax last weekend, shutting I-80 briefly and dumping 2.26 inches of rain in downtown Colfax while snows above 6000 feet boosted Boreal Ridge Ski Resort. CHP reported several minor accidents from driving too fast for conditions and one major injury crash on westbound I-80 near Whitmore. hail caused delays and hydroplaning with limited chain controls as visibility dropped.

Colfax High teachers face APC growth score drop
Colfax High School teachers confronted a surprising decline in the 2002-2003 Academic Performance Index Growth report, with a six point drop from the prior year. Colfax was the only main high school in Placer and Nevada counties to earn negative points, while about 90 percent of California public schools improved. Colfax to Hold Hearing Over $351,000 Wastewater Fees
Colfax officials will meet with the California Regional Water Quality Control Board Central Valley Regional Board on December 4 to discuss 351000 in fees levied against the city for Wastewater Treatment Plant violations. Pursuit on I-80 Ends With Hospital Transport
A suspected drunk driver on Interstate 80 in Sacramento County led a late Tuesday pursuit before police halted the chase. The driver William Read of Pilot Hill was not jailed but treated at a hospital for a diabetes related issue after the incident begun shortly after 4 p.m. near Placer County. Detective Bruce Klaman of the Sacramento Police Department led the stop attempt that failed to persuade the pickup driver to pull over.
