Towle's railroad life remembered by former residents

Former Towle residents recount childhood on a narrow gauge line once serving a pioneer Placer County town. Art Sommers Jr and siblings grew up beside the depot, riding the trackcar, waving to engineers, and witnessing mail bags and snow-clearing trains. The 1950s era depot house and nearby highway lore frame a story of Towle's electric lights, early telephones, and evolving SP districts.
