Colfax High Prom Brings 400 Students to Evada City
Colfax High School held its prom with about 400 attendees in Evada City. Students arrived in jalopies, mini-vans, and limousines while downtown shops filled. Themed “A Night in Venice,” the event featured Mediterranean decor, wall photos, and music by a disc jockey. Prom royalty included Ben Galbraith, Kelsey Killian, Shannon Slevin, and Ross Lee.

Colfax Chamber plans two day Fourth celebration
The Colfax Chamber of Commerce moves ahead with a two day Fourth of July event after raising over 9 000 toward a 16 000 goal. donations fund the fireworks and security costs while Yankee Doodle Dandy plays at the theater and profits support the celebration. Blaze Claims Mobile Home and Truck at Shady Glen Park
A fire at Shady Glen Mobile Home Park on Highway 174 destroyed a pickup truck and an adjacent mobile home. No injuries were reported. Firefighters arrived around 1 p.m. from Station 30 and vented propane tanks near space 56 as a safety measure. The trailer burned fully after entry, with a quick search finding no occupants. Cause is under investigation.
