Shelley Eisner, longtime Colfax city planning director, died Saturday after a battle with breast and liver cancer. The 54 year old was remembered by city manager Bob Perrault for her zeal and impact on the city and staff at City Hall. See EISNER, page 11.
City of Courax will host public comment at City Hall on May 11 at 7 p.m. about whether to keep Railroad Avenue as a public road. The site has not been formally accepted as a roadway since prior to 1978 when the wastewater plant location changed.
About 1,500 people joined Colfax Chamber of Commerce events for the 26th Annual Colfax Record Run Walk part of Spring A’Faire. Sponsors Soroptimist International of Colfax and the Colfax Record. Prizes included Treasure Hunt and Poker Run draws while 53 Vintage Car Show entries impressed organizers.
After a year on the market the Bear River Retreat on Highway 174 sold to Sandy Brooke of Brooke Video in Van Nuys for just over 700000 dollars. The 3300 square foot lodge sits on 14 acres beside the Bear River Bridge. Brooke plans to rent the lodge for reunions and groups and offer a video package to document stays.
Weimar Hills School principal Steve Schaumleffel earned the Administrator of the Year Award for Middle Grades Principal at the Association of California School Administrators Convention in Reno. The regional honor recognizes leadership among 60 middle schools across ten counties.
