Colfax City Council discussed the Ralph M Brown Act at a work session. City Attorney P Scott Browne explained open meeting rules and public notification while stressing limits on public influence and the need for public access to decisions.

Placer County Sheriff Sgt. Dave Wells, 50, replaces Sgt. Mike Cunningham at the Colfax Substation. An L.A. transplant who moved to the foothills, Wells has a long career in law enforcement including a stint as a high tech crimes detective. He plans to stay in Colfax and oversee seven deputies.
