Christine Wright 42 died at home after heart condition. As Colfax Youth Center director since 2002 she led programs for local kids, earning wide respect from family, co workers, and the community. Services were held at Calvary Bible Church in Grass Valley. donations to the Colfax Youth Center.

Vandalism hits historic Neff house in Colfax
Two juveniles aged 11 and 13 were arrested on suspicion of vandalism after smashing nine antique windows at the Neff house on Grass Valley Street Colfax. Estimated damage is 3400 dollars. One juvenile was booked, the other cited. The house, built in the 1880s with 1914 addition, reflects local history.

Firefighters Contain Weimar Blazes Near Cross Road
Two vegetation fires erupted within 67 minutes at opposite ends of Weimar Cross Road Tuesday evening and were fully contained within an hour. The first started at 5 53 p m near High Acres Road by a metal shed and a hot tub, injuring one person who was treated for breathing difficulties. Firefighters from Placer Hills Fire Station 3 and CDF Engine 2385 contained the deck fire before it spread to the house as investigators pursue the cause near the metal shed and hot tub.

Missing swimmers found after overnight search
Two swimmers went into the North Fork of the Ameriggn River at noon Monday and were missing by 10:40 p.m. A 19 year old Lloyd Cotter of Roseville was found upstream in chest-deep water with hypothermia and taken to Sutter-Auburn Faith Hospital. The second swimmer, 25 year old Ryan McGraw of Roseville, was found near Big Bend at 5:50 a.m. with mild hypothermia and released after on scene treatment.
