Cone Zone lowers speed on Highway 49 near Auburn
Caltrans and CHP cut the speed limit from 65 to 55 mph for a two mile cone zone on Highway 49 from the Nevada Placer County line to Streeter Road north of Auburn. Signs were to be posted July 3 with enforcement to follow. The $6.8 million widening project from Bear River Bridge to Wolf Combie Roads runs parallel, with the slower limit in effect during construction through fall 2004.
