Community groups meet weekly at multiple venues in Colfax and surrounding towns. A wide range of clubs and services includes American Legion, Colfax Lions, Oak Odd Fellows, Garden Club, Chamber of Commerce, Quilters, Veterans groups, youth center, and meal programs with contact numbers and meeting times.
Government boards and councils outline their meeting times. Bianchini Board meets 5 30 p m at Sierra Vista Community Center on the second Wednesday. Colfax City Council second and fourth Tuesday 7 p m in city hall chambers. Colfax Elementary School Board third Wednesday 7 p m in the library. Colfax Planning Commission first and third Thursday 7 p m council chambers. Sierra Vista Community Center Board of Directors second Wednesday 7 p m at the Center. Weimar Applegate Colfax Municipal Advisory Committee fourth Wednesday 7 p m Veterans Memorial Hall.
Special Events include a JOB SEARCH WORK SHOP at Colfax Library from 1 to 3 p.m. on January 7 and the FRIENDS OF THE NEVADA COUNTY LIBRARIES monthly book sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on January 4 in the basement of the Doris Foley Historical Library in Nevada City. An AUDUBON RICE FIELD trip to view swans and other waterfowl is planned for January 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Meet at Pleasant Valley Road and Route 20 Park and Ride before 9 a.m. Call 639-2025 for details.
The City of Colfax Parks and Recreation Commission invites public input on the Draft Bikeway Master Plan at the next meeting Monday Jan 6 2003 at 6 30 p m in City Hall Main Street. Community input aims to shape routes connect regional paths and support federal funding for a citywide bike network with policies to guide implementation.
