Unusual Weather Halts Tomato Harvest for Local Organic Farm
Farmers Walker and Drew report a drastically reduced tomato crop this year due to storms and humidity that foster mildew and brown rot. They expect slower harvests into September with hopes for an extended season while promoting organic practices and local markets in Colfax, Nevada City, and Grass Valley. They anticipate two tons of winter squash and plan corn and melon sales next week.
