Colfax opens Golden State Patient Care Collective clinic

Colfax s newest medical cannabis dispensary opened April 2 at 323 B Highway 174 in a modest office. Co owners Jim Henry and Cheryle Riendeau, both longtime advocates, say medicinal cannabis helps seriously ill patients including those with cancer and eating difficulties. Mayor Sharon Gieras supported the effort after city approval March 29, with city manager Bob Perrault confirming the license meets California law.

Open House Unites Colfax High School Past and Future

Colfax High School hosts an open house from 4 to 6 pm Saturday April 24 with free performances at 7 pm to showcase student work in the new building funded by Measure W. Hearing at 8:30 a.m. May 3 in Superior Court District One. Incidents 1984 to 1987 include repeated fondling and oral sex in Kingdom Hall bathrooms. Plaintiff alleges prior abuse by A W Harriman and concealment by defendants.

Third Chamber director in 3 years resigns

After one year with Colfax Area Chamber of Commerce executive director Brad Childs has resigned. He is the third ED to resign in as many years, with board citing fundraising as a key challenge and pay concerns. Childs will consult while turning to his two businesses Wilderness Institute and a new executive coaching venture. The city provides modest support, and membership dues remain slow, jeopardizing stable staffing.
