Wyowling ranchers face shortages as draft calls rise during lambing, shearing, and planting season. Farmers fear some fields may go untended while men serve, and demand post spring delay for harvest and grain production. Citizens stress sustaining food supply over battlefield service.
The Cokeville district closes for summer as Mr Winger does not return. Miss Ike Eachus is chosen as superintendent with duties across all schools. Several teachers plan summer programs and relocations. two vacancies remain with other assignments confirmed.
Keubeg Redmond of Cokeville married Adele Krentz of Kor der in a Wednesday Kemmerer wedding presided by Father Lynch of Redmond Krentz ties. Redmond recently returned from Nevada and works for Earl D. Haggerty. Mrs Condron and Miss Chelsea Kehoe attended.

Draft Registration notices were issued as Register Postmaster Schile received the registration cards and blanks for men who have turned 21 since the first draft. Registration will take place at the post office all day Wednesday June 5. Roscoe Stoner returned from Salt Lake with a new Premier Foursome and was joined by his aunt Mrs N R Stoner.
Under Henrr Smalley direction Cokeville’s Red Cross drive for 3000 dollars proceeds well. Smalley reports subscriptions likely to exceed the minimum and praises the generous, cheerful community response. Ladies aiding in town include Mrs. P. W. Olson Mrs. F. W. Stoffers Mrs. J. G. Reynolds Mrs. T. K. Collett and Mrs. B. H. Smalley.
Good Hide Buys Lewis Leavitt of the Rock Springs Hide Pelt and Farm Co has purchased 12 000 pounds of hides and ite shipped Thursday. He has been in the territory for some time paying the highest market prices and previously shipped 10 000 pounds. He will visit regularly and his house will handle consignments sent direct to him.
Weber County expert Walter Johnson of Cokeville plans a summer stay and invites Lincoln County residents to challenge him for the county championship. Calibres allowed, distances 10 to 1000 yards, offhand or prone positions, no glass sights. Johnson, lame, is in Class 6 of the draft and offers rifles handling advice. The editor reports his niece Florence Brandon has enlisted as a second class yeoman in the Naval Reserve Corps assigned to the navy department and celebrates her choice as she helps free a man to go to sea. Her twin Laurence serves with the Flying Boat Squadron in Pensacola and Valentine is a private in Company 118th Infantry at Camp Meade.
Erro Lee of Etna in Star Valley rode into Cokeville Monday night en route to Kemmerer for a draft call. Stage driver Joe Clark reported Erro had never seen a railway train before and mistook the moving cars for freight. He learned trains have windows cushions and foldable beds for night trips, a concept new to him coming from near Alpine along the Snake River about forty miles north of Afton.
Lucile Collett, a University of Valpariso student, will not return home next month. She has accepted a stenographic position at the school where thousand soldiers train this summer and will live with the president and family. She will continue studies and vocal training and plans a Cokeville visit in August.
Verne A Culver of Strevell Paterson Hardware Co Salt Lake City visits Cokeville and announces he will quit the road on June 7 after nine years with his firm and six years visiting Short Line points every two weeks. He will become secretary treasurer of Motor Mercantile Co a new Salt Lake City wholesale auto supply house capitalized at 200 000 with A D McMullen as president.
Jones has been appointed United States land commissioner at Kemmerer succeeding Col. L. I. Christmas after years in that post. Ivan, a diligent Democratic worker, is praised by friends for earning party honors. Also mentions Layva Caneses on the state supreme court bench this fall.
The entire receipts of last evening’s Woodward and Hinekey show were lured to the Steell Cross. The art was greatly appreciated by radio enthusiasts and others interested in the Red Cross work.
A local plea stresses that strong turnout at a Red Cross rally is needed to honor war volunteers. It urges men to attend, noting sacrifices made by families and the importance of financially aiding in medicine and food for servicemen.
