Miss Florence Anderson among a party from Cokerville returning Sunday evening when their car began sliding backward in Lakes Town Canyon. The car pinned her between rocks. after others jumped clear and the vehicle was moved, she survived with only bruises and scratches.
Before U S entry, purses were scarce and training schools unable to meet need for nurses in factories rural health and public service. Now 8 000 nurses called to foreign service and 4 000 in domestic encampments with 80 000 more required by January 1919.
Four additional men left Cokeville last Wednesday and Thursday to enter government service. Geo Wright, John Thomas, and Frank Gilbert enlisted in cavalry and quartermaster corps, while J W Stubblefield joined the coast artillery. All are above draft age.
Roberts Wats H. Gabiies of Sullivan and Roos Co. oversees wool consignments at Cokeville this week and arranges shipment while reviewing moving the summer range in Star Valley. He cites recent rains as improving grazing conditions and expects good results.
War Industries board fixes 1918 wool prices on a scoured basis and divides fleece and territory wool. P. E. Goddard foreman of the Afton Live Stock Co spent several days in town this week making arrangements for dipping his bands and handling other business interests.
City declares June 28 1918 War Savings Day urging all residents to pledge for War Savings Stamps totaling 3 000 000. Proclamation cites President and Governor, directs pledges through War Savings Director William C Irvine, and bears mayoral seal dated June 14.
State order from H. R. Millard of the State Board of Sheep Commissioners directs dipping of all Lincoln county sheep under state and federal inspection. Infected flocks require two dips for bucks and all sheep, while others are to be dipped once.
R W Collett named undersheriff to fill the vacancy created by the late Sheriff McMinn. Collett, 42, is a Cokeville native and former deputy under Sheriff Ed Hannon. He previously served as Cokeville town marshal and is regarded as an efficient peace officer in Kemmerer Republican county.
The fore part of the week, in a despondent mood, Hilly Man disposed of his little tin Henry. Later, after considering the matter, he admitted his error, bought another flivver, and is again in good spirits. The old car was sold to Frank Pattee of this city.

J. McBurney, traveling passenger agent for Union Pacific Lines based in St. Louis, spends time in Yakeville overseeing wool consignments from the district and handling checking and loading duties for his company.
An elephant from Howe's London Show eyed a horse unloading a wagon into a warehouse on Monday morning. The horse avoided companionship and fled toward the timber. The wool unloading proceeded peacefully afterward.
Cokeville residents dream of a flag pole in the center of the park to display a Liberty Loan Service flag. The proposal notes the flag is occasionally shown, then carefully stored, and argues a pole would enliven the park and cost little.
Mrs J G Reynolds departed on No 6 Sunday to Sterling Galo where her father John Vince died suddenly. Mrs Mary Wodges, in Redorsoing treatment at Marquis hospital, came from Cokeville where she sold her ranch. she is reported recovering. Mrs Wodges and her husband came from Pennsylvania four years ago. he died last year.
