The Strathmerton Tennis Club opening afternoon drew players from Numurkah Cobram Yarroweyah and Glenfield. Winners included B Bourke Miss Troy Mr and Mrs Mulavey J Crute and Mrs Stokes J Jones Mr J Cullen. Finals featured J Jones and Mrs Henry over O Bond and Mr J Cullen. President C Weiss presented a gift to newlyweds Mr and Mrs D Pinnock.
E T Kendell of Brentwood Lockhart was unanimously selected as the Country Party candidate for Corowa at an Electorate Council conference in Balldale. He is the youngest son of the late Hon William Kendell, a former Corowa representative and North East province legislator, and has a long record in farming, military service, and public affairs with the Farmers Settlers Association.
