The Federal Controller of Accommodation proposes removing surplus residents from overcrowded cities to balance postwar housing. He targets retirees, service personnel, and those deemed not gainfully employed since the war began, arguing rational relocation could ease wartime strain and guide peacetime spatial balance.
The Country Roads Board asked Tungamah Shire Council to plant trees along Murray Valley Highway near the town to replace dead trees. Watering constraints were noted and cooperation pledged.

The Director of Agriculture Mr H A Mullett announces a 50 percent rise in the nitrate of soda ration for fruit growers. Nitrate of soda remains the primary nitrogen source while limited stocks of sulphate of ammonia are reserved for vegetables and potatoes in northern districts. Citrus areas have special allowances, and growers must follow formalities to obtain their allotments.
The Railways Commissioners explained that suburban electric services are fed by small coal and are improving with limited power from the State Electricity Commission during peak periods. Large coal for country steam locomotives remains scarce, requiring years for engine changes and hindering full restoration.
