On Monday night a presentation was made to A.C.1 Ron McKenzie who is on pre embarka tion leave by Mr H Weiss for the Cobram Comforts Fund. The remake endorsed by Mr W Bethune representing the R8L wished Ron happiness in his married life. Jim Monckton recently left Rose's Bakery to join the RAAF and is at a training camp in Victoria. Pte Bill Cain is currently on home leave.
A Mooroopna base hospital fund drive group met to organize entertainment and fundraising. W J Denson chaired. nominations elected W R Denson as president and N Brooks as vice president with a range of secretaries and committee members. Donations to be collected locally with acknowledgments in the Courier. August events include a dance by the Fellowship Club and a fire and dance by LOF and Fire Brigade, plus a novelty ball.
Twenty eight cards taken in the week end men's competition against bogey with only one player finishing. The associates 18 hole stroke event won by Miss A McGauchie. Results list A grade and B grade matches with margins from 4 up to 14 down and many scores recorded in the associates section led by Miss McGauchie with 98 37 61 followed by other entrants. Mixed foursomes set for next Sunday with partners to be drawn.
