Memorial day services next Sunday at 2 00 pm include Rev H A Davis of Hillsboro giving the memorial address. Following the church service attendees will march to the cemetery to decorate graves of old soldiers. All veterans will be transported by automobile from church to the cemetery.

Report of auto thieves who stole the George R. Christie car in Greencastle last week getting mired near the McHattie home in Stilesville while driving toward Indianapolis. They asked for payment, attempted a $5 bill or $5 check, and left after the car owner learned the vehicle was stolen.
Robert Kerr 37 superintendent of American Zinc Products Greencastle plant died last Thursday afternoon by shooting himself in the plant office with a 32 caliber revolver. He used the nightwatchman’s gun. the bullet pierced his skull. Kerr left a wife and family and funeral services were held in Niles Ohio where he is buried after burial preparations at Hanna Huffman.
Mrs Sarah Raidabaugh aged 68 former Plainfield resident died at her Anderson home after a pneumonia illness on May 417. She was wife of Rev P W Raidabaugh pastor of the Friends church in Anderson and formerly pastor of Plainfield Friends church. Raidabaugh was a well known local figure and he earlier published the Plainfield Friday Caller.
A large Studebaker touring car was demolished Monday near the Joe Pierson farm on Rockville road after losing control and running off the road. It struck a bridge abutment, injuring a lady occupant severely. Had it not struck the bridge, it would have plunged into the creek.
Wallace Blue of Greencastle has shown marked improvement after several weeks of illness and was able to visit in Coatesville Sunday.
The Hendricks County Republican candidates report campaign spending. Merritt A. Gregory, nominee for commissioner, spent 27.90 with 10.40 on gasoline and the rest on advertising. Wm. H. Walls spent 15.65 on advertising and carfare. John T. Hume, for prosecutor, spent 23.23 on advertising.
The article urges holders not to sell Liberty bonds despite low market prices. It argues bonds are worth 100 cents on the dollar, yield fair interest, and are fully payable by the United States, likening bonds to a sturdy bridge that will reach maturity regardless of price fluctuations.
Four men from New Winchester Herry Dickerson Homer Ramsey Harold Mason and Ralph McCaun plowed a 16 acre field for Ellsworth Montgomery who has been ill. Montgomery could not plow due to family illness and his hospitalized daughter. The work was delayed by damp ground but finished Friday to Montgomery’s relief.
James Davidson town clerk and treasurer underwent eye surgery by Dr. F A Morrison in Indianapolis. He reports both eyes were operated on twice in the past week and remains at home with both eyes bandaged and unable to see.
The Greencastle sale Friday afternoon drew a large crowd as 25 head of registered open gifts sold, with prices starting near 100 and some reaching that level. J. W. Tilley of Danville Illinois and Isaac Brattin of Putnam County bought the top fancy gifts. The average price across all gilts was 50 dollars.
The early westbound fast mail train now arrives in Coatesville at 7 34 a m instead of 8 07 a m. The schedule change was implemented Sunday.
The Amo area marked Decoration day with a memorial sermon by Rev. John T. Hadley and a decoration day address by Rev. Wm. Cisna, followed by a cemetery commemoration led by Fred Shirley. The day also included baptisms at the creek near town with David Pruitt, Lawrence Johnson, and Lillian and Edith McCloud joining the church, and others received at the evening service.
Mrs Mollie Goodwin and daughter Pauline visited Mrs Anna Goodwin last Tuesday. Mrs Will Shuck called on Mrs Vina Ruark in Fillmore last Saturday. Charlie Snodgrass is much better after a severe throat issue. Miss Bertha Nichols and Miss Avis Knetzer called last Sunday. Some farmers sowed corn last Sunday due to lateness. Mary Shuck called on Lucy Garrett. Ralph Beck visited Merle Wright. Mr and Mrs Clyde Walls returned from a two week southern trip. Herbert Lawson Claud Lawson and Mrs Alice Ransom attended the funeral of Mrs Fanny Riggles at Roughdale last Thursday. Frank Garrett and daughter Lucy visited Eel River Falls Sunday.
Mrs. Finley Walker died late Saturday at her father's home in Monroe township Putnam county from peritonitis. She leaves a four day old baby and husband. The funeral was conducted at Brick Chapel church at 2 30 Monday afternoon by Rev Levi Marshall and burial followed in Chapel cemetery.
WD Knight arranges a home water system and bathroom outfit with J F Walton handling the plumbing work in the northern part of town.
A public appeal urges citizens to back the eighteenth amendment and the Volstead act, urging resolutions of support sent to party leaders and custodians. It notes upcoming Republican and Democratic conventions and lists signatories including Arthur Dean Bevan Clarence True Wilson and others.
Growing last Sunday the Methodist Sunday school drew 5 in attendance and collected 3.30 dollars. Banner class for attendance was led by Mrs. C. D. Knight primary class 23 and banner class for collection by Mrs. G. W. Bryant Busy Boys 1.03. Teachers present lessons engagingly and invite all to attend. Ray Barr aged 30 an employee at a Cloverdale saw mill was crushed to death when a log rolled onto him while he was positioning it on a chain. Co workers were nearby when the accident occurred. Barr is survived by a wife and two children.
John Stewape, a secon trick operator at the ducal Pennsylvania tower, accepts a position as first trick operator in the middle division of the Pennsylvania. He and his wife plan to move to Greenup, HI, soon. Mrs. Jennie Alexander will accompany them and share their home.
A cement truck was struck by an eastbound Pennsylvania freight train at Reelsville last week. The driver escaped serious injury by jumping free before the impact. The truck was demolished and cement scattered along the tracks.
James Paxton Voorhees of Planfield, a well known poet, has traveled to Seattle Washington to visit his son.

In Ohio a prison inmate slimmed to 140 pounds after eating prison fare. tailors rushed a 24 hour suit for him. A Story City banker, 65, shot himself amid guilt over sins. bank remains solvent. In Cleveland, Steve Laboda survived a supposed attack, later booked on a disturbance charge with two associates.
A printed income tax form like the Interchurch World Movement seeks funds for education. Of over 336 million sought, twenty three cents per dollar will fund schools. Indiana allocations list Butler at 3.5 million and Wabash at two million. Danville Gazette reports.
Coatesville faces no oiling of streets this year leaving residents to endure dust as in other towns. Motorists traveling at about 40 miles per hour will stir dust in front of homes.
A new electric bell replaces the old one at the grade crossing in Pennsylvania. The new bell rings much faster, raising questions whether it will replace the crossing watchman as hoped.
Bishop F D Leete of Atlanta was chosen at Des Moines Iowa as the resident bishop for the new Indiana area. His residence will be in Indianapolis.
Mrs. W. B. Swain of Greencastle is very low with cancer of the face and her family says she is gradually growing worse and cannot live much longer.
Reverend H. A. Davis of Hillsboro will preach at the Christian church next Sunday night in a special service.
