Destructive Fire Destroys Hope Farm Dwelling
A large eight room dwelling on J A Hope farm two miles southwest of Coatesville burned last Saturday around noon. Origin unknown but suspected from a defective fire. Tenants Lawrence Inman and Harry Evans lived there with their families. most furniture saved, kitchen content lost. Insurance was 1250, rebuild cost estimated at 3000. Hope expresses thanks to helpers who saved the barn and outbuildings.

Martha A Whicker born September 9 1844 in Covington Kentucky daughter of John Robinson and Martha Hughes Robinson died May 10 1914 at her home in Stilesville Indiana aged 69 years 8 months and 1 day She married Frederick Whicker October 20 1868 and they had one daughter Mildred Mary Whicker born October 10 1881 who died November 16 1885 She also cared for two stepsons C and Franz Whicker who survive her The Rev G Ramsey conducted funeral services at the MBE Church in Stilesville on Monday at 3 PM and she was buried beside her child Her husband died November 22 1913 and she was survived by a brother and sister

RX of PB lodge in Coatesville marks twenty first anniversary
The RX of PB lodge in Coatesville will celebrate its twenty first anniversary next Tuesday May 26 with an address by Rev C L Airhart of Greencastle. Admission is free and a banquet will follow in the lodge room. Committee members include Thos Bowen Harvey McAninch Luther Cassady Thos Sullivan and William McAninch. The lodge since 1893 has retained charter members and now lists about 150 members with ongoing recruitment.

An Od-Time Resident Mr Elwood Carter a nearly 89 year old minister of the Conservative Friends Church visits Coatesville. He has preached forty years traveled over twenty five thousand miles from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico and this is his first return since 1859. Carter was hosted by J B Gambold and recalls old friends nearly all having passed on. He notes Coatesville’s bustle and its local newspaper Tue Herald.
