The Friday Club met June 18 with Mrs Clovie Elrod as hostess. Members answered roll call with Household Hints. The afternoon lesson came from Joshua chapters 8 and 9. A Bible contest was prepared by Mrs Lola Stewart with Mrs Carrie Bennett winning a bouquet of roses lilies and ferns as a prize. Strawberries and angel food cake were served during social hour. Guests included Mrs Laura Elrod Jessie Elrod and Mrs Alice McAninch. The club adjourned to meet with Mrs Lona Larkin on July 16.

Broadstreet Defeats Damage Suit In Danville Court
J A Broadstreet a Cloverdale farmer won a $5000 damage suit brought by Henry Snider from Putnam circuit court. Snider alleged Broadstreet struck him with a pitchfork causing injuries. Jury deliberated about an hour before returning a verdict for Broadstreet. Lyon & Lyon and J H James of Greencastle defended him.
