New Draft Numbers Follow West Clay Township Conscript List

Library Report Highlights Loans and New Acquisitions

The library loaned 723 books. The Laws of Indiana from 1917 arrived from the county clerk. The Year book of the Department of Agriculture arrived from Congressman Everett Sanders, and nine volumes were donated by Mrs. G. H. Hughes. Indiana Young People's Reading Circle titles were purchased for circulation. An exhibit features 12 original drawings by Indiana illustrator.

The Cloverdale chautauqua runs August 3 to 7 and the annual Cloverdale picnic is on August 2 at the Mary E Helfer grove just north west of town. The Greencastle high school contract over 85000 will be let Friday July 20. Cal Sinninger sold the Westfield Review to W A Foote of Farmersburg Indiana. In Putnam county Mrs Eliza McCoy 79 died at her daughter Mrs John B Clark’s home in Marion township. Surviving are two sons and another daughter. The Pathe Company filmed The Shades in Montgomery county to be shown worldwide. A band of thieves hit a Woolworth store in Indianapolis taking nearly 900 in coins. Ten Cloverdale lads passed the Indiana National Guard physical. Two Greencastle boys restless at a swimming hole caused a minor scare. The A M E church quarterly conference sent a message to President Wilson seeking protection for their race. New officers were elected for the district and treasury. John Frump 95 of Clay county visited his friend Hillam Jenkins 99 in Cloverdale. Mr Frump wrote a 276 word life history on a postcard. Hog feeder G H Brewer reports two 150 pound pigs gained 100 pounds in 43 days.
