Florence Schenck died in Norfolk Virginia after seven years of estrangement and a failed elopement with Charles H Wilson manager of Alfred G Vanderbilt's show horses. The New York Supreme Court Justice Gavegan allowed the case for 50000 damages to proceed as the relations of the deceased could carry on the suit despite her death. Schenck alleged Wilson lied about being unmarried and falsely implied a London marriage. She returned to claim the ceremony in Paddington England, but no record existed. Her father Dr Powhattan Schenck had disowned her after the elopement but later forgave her before her death.
Matt Clerk Smith of the county post office near Kearney Nebraska admitted a Christmas Day robbery of seven thousand five hundred dollars. He said a conspiracy with former Buffalo County Sheriff Sammons planned the theft and that Sammons entered the post office with keys left in a secure place. Smith is under arrest. Sammons, now a railroad detective, is at large.

Kansas City report says the fourth trial of Dr. B. Clark Hyde for the murder of Thomas H. Swope will start next Monday in Missouri court.
Charlie White unleashed a rapid series of blows against Harry Donahue in Peoria Illinois. The fight was halted within two rounds when Grant Minor sheriff's son rushed the ring by order of the state attorney as Donahue swung and staggered from White's onslaught.
Two girls are missing and believed dead in the Shively and Homer building wreckage in South Bend Indiana. They were acquaintances of Delbert Hibberd of Niles Michigan who was killed and Theodore Metzger who was injured when the building collapsed.
Mrs Albert J Jewell wife of the missing aviator examined clothing at the Hockaway morgue and stated the garments on the torso washed ashore do not belong to her husband. The aviator has been missing since October 13 and the clothing had been linked to him.

New York January 6 Jack Britton defeated Phil Bloom in a clear points victory at Madison Square Garden. Britton controlled the bout with sharp punches and sound defense to earn the decision over Bloom.
Indianapolis January 6 At the close of inaugural ceremonies Mayor Joseph I Bell renewed his pledge to carry out his campaign promises. The oath was administered by Judge John J Reechford and the parade by the Indiana Democratic club preceded the ceremonies. Governor Ralston attended along with outgoing and incoming officials.
Logansport police arrest Charles Snider 23 and Albert Hinton and Walter Smith 18 for a spree of burglaries. Loot from hardware stores dug shops saloons and other businesses recovered. The trio confessed and had planned to surrender, but were arrested first.
Rev Jol Claypool a veteran Methodist minister of the Northwestern Indiana conference dies at his Stockwell home aged 83. Born August 7 1842 in Boone County he spent a lifetime preaching. Admitted to the conference in 1881 he served Boswell Rensselaer Norton circuit Williamsport Monro Morency Kentland Stockwell Waveland Kirkland and Romney. Funeral is set for ten o'clock Tuesday with Dr G W Switzer of Lafayette presiding.
Harry Talbert of Shelbyville was committed to jail for one year or until paying a $200 judgment. Judge Blair set the penalty after a jury verdict in the state related suit brought by Miss Oma Abercrombie of Andersonville. The sentence follows the court’s finding on the settlement case.
