October days bring reflection and renewal as the church announces a Sunday morning service for older members with two services at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday school begins at 9:45. Rev. C. E. Fowler invites all to attend and support the elderly churchgoers.
Robert Collier and his wife arrived home from a two month rest and recreation in the Colorado mountains. They report an excellent time and say they are feeling fine after the trip.
The season opens next Friday night at Central Park with Montezuma. Game time is 8 15. Admission is 15 cents. The High School gym will be set up in the old furnace room by the Athletic Association and opened to girls and women teachers. Miss Kibby may coach a girls team. Sullivan teachers will visit schools next Monday. Vermillion County Teachers meet October 18 19 at Newport. Clinton teachers depart October 18 noon by train.

William Stone a grocer in Parke County found a carrier pigeon at his home last Sunday. The bird bore a gold band on each leg and a written note stating Frank Cross 3646 W 27th St Cleveland Ohio Y 34728.
A Clinton 1907 report by six businessmen and city council members urges the Indiana Telephone and Telegraph company to obtain a ten year city franchise. The plan sets monthly rents $1.50 for business lines and $1.25 for residences, a 3 percent annual city payment, non discrimination, city supervision of poles and wires, and rights to revoke for noncompliance. The committee contends the company acts without a franchise.
It is understood at all Indiana mines not under contract that coal price will rise 25 percent per ton on October 1. Mines operate at four days a week due to car shortages, but crews can catch up in ten days. Orders on hand can sustain six days a week for two weeks. the bottleneck is lack of cars.
Miss Grace Curtis Glenn of Chicago delivered two instructive sermons at the Presbyterian church last Sabbath with the theme Japan and the Transforming Power of the Church in That Kingdom.
Pietro Savio councilman from the first ward and John Giovanni left Tuesday for a month in Italy their old home. They are prominent among their people and have lived here several years. A young women’s club called The Westminster Guild is being organized under the Presbyterian church to promote Christian culture and usefulness. The first meeting will be held with Mrs. Fowler on Monday evening at 8 o’clock.
