Justice E. B. Brown and physicians I. M. Casebeer and M. T. Hall conducted an inquest on Miss Eliza Archer from Clinton at the Vermillion county poor asylum last Thursday and ruled her insane. She is 17 years old.
Dr W McGrew has been ill for a week and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The regular annual meeting of stockholders will be held at the Secretary's office on Saturday evening January 4 1908 at 7 30 for the election of three Directors to serve three years to hear the secretary report and to attend to other business. G W Wells president J W Ross secretary.
Frank Hahee a driver at Deer ing mine No 7 was instantly killed Thursday afternoon when run over by mine cars during a trip. He was a young married man with a wife and baby and several relatives.
Robert Burton, a longtime local miner, died suddenly Wednesday morning in West Terre Haute. He lived here for several years and leaves three children in the area. The remains will be buried in Clinton cemetery today, Friday.
The Rogers couple will headline next week's bill at The Varieties Theatre in Terre Haute. Mort, a Clinton product, and his wife present a twenty minute comic sketch titled Out of Sight, praised in advance as a laugh from start to finish. In a Friday night game Clinton, Harlan & Higgins team defeated Brazil five 49 to 13 amid poor turnout due to weather. Spectators praised the players work and speed and a Brazil visit to prove the score was not luck is planned for January. On Whittier’s birth centennial, December 17, schools held morning exercises with quotes and a bio of Whittier. A high school debate on Philippine withdrawal followed. A Christmas program is set for Friday at 2 45 PM in all rooms.
