Clinton Trolleys beat the Terre Haute Idaho Idlers 5 to 0 last Sunday. Edmunds pitched a dominant game allowing only three hits and striking out ten as Clinton held the visitors at bay and cruised to victory.
Miss Gladys Chunn of Terre Haute visits her aunt and uncle Mr and Mrs Harrison and other relatives and friends for two weeks.
John Waldon a 31 year old colored miner at No 7 Dering mine was crushed when a trip ran over him. He suffered multiple injuries and died in Terre Haute hospital Tuesday. The funeral was held Wednesday with interment at Grant.
Ex-Sheriff James A. Swayne of Opedee leased the Joseph C. Davis farm and threshed 5,807 bushels of wheat from 225 acres of river bottom land at an average of over 26 bushels per acre, with portions yielding 40 bushels per acre. The Hoosier State credits him as the country’s champion wheat raiser.
The list shows the high school staff with George C. Graves as principal teaching Latin and History. Lillian Hart handles German and English. Harry L. Lowe teaches Mathematics and Science.
The Clinton Township preliminary institute will be held at the High School on Aug 30. The program includes opening exercises roll call and lessons in elementary education with rooms and instructors listed such as Miss Clover and Maude M Batchelder, Rebecca J Bullington and Olive Thompson. Superintendent Orville C Pratt will preside with an afternoon schedule including declamation and American History geography.
Charles H Williams born 1862 in Columbus Ohio died August 18 1907 from locomotor ataxia after a two year illness. He married Nellie Fitzgerald in Coxville Indiana, moved to Eldorado Illinois in 1906 and died there. His body was brought to Clinton for interment in Riverside cemetery with Masons conducting the funeral. He leaves a wife and three children.
The Clinton Uniform Bank No. 105 E. of P. took the first prize in class C at Indianapolis last week. The event was open to companies organized under five years and offered $275 for first prize with two additional prizes. Our town’s team showed creditable performance and the boys earned honorable mention.
Resolutions mourn the death of Anna Sophia Dies who passed away August 2 1907. The camp extends sympathy to her husband and friends, orders the charter draped in mourning for thirty days, and authorizes copies to the bereaved husband records and local papers. Miss Bertha Nolan hosted a masquerade party at her home last week with ice cream and a good time. Al Ford sold a horse to Gus Johnson for 180 dollars. Ora Stokesberry and son Chester visited Mrs Emma Crane and attended a ball game. Miss Mary Miller is very ill. Ben Church and Florence Campbell are recovering from mumps. Henry Smith and wife visited West Terre Haute on Sunday.
Bethlehem S. S. will hold a picnic at Thos. Eatons grove one half mile west of Bethlehem church on Tuesday August 29 1907. Dinner and refreshments provided. No intoxicants allowed.
John H. Bogart transfers a lot in Clinton to Margarita Patrillo for 8200 dollars. Frederick C. Helt transfers 75 acres in Helt township to Hiram E. Helt for 1 dollar. Hiram E. Helt transfers 86 23 acres in Helt to Frederick C. Helt for 1 dollar.

Gladys Sackett Lewis died at her sister’s Clinton home aged 19 years 11 months 20 days. Doctors attributed death to malignant diphtheria after a long tuberculosis illness. She leaves a 39 month old son, four brothers, one sister, and her father in Cloverdale. Burial was to be in Cloverdale after she was taken there Sunday. She willed her baby to sister-in-law Mrs Oscar Sackett.
