Clifton High School B Team Season Opens With Postponed Games

Clifton High School reports its B Team and Junior High squads began play late due to the Central Texas Fair. The schedule lists five Junior High games from September 21 to November 2 at 7:00 PM, with six B Team matches planned through October and November including home and away games against Whitney Valley Mills Valley Mills Hillsboro Serena and Connally. Around 42 players are on the Junior High squad, with expectations the number will drop to 30 35.

A singing will be held Sunday afternoon at the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home between 2 and 4 o clock. The event is open to everyone who wishes to attend and participate.

Bosque County residents host the 1965 Central Texas Fair with Home Economics Exhibit and Home Show at the National Guard Armory Clifton Thursday through Saturday. 1928 Clifton High School Reunion Planned for 1985

The 1928 Clifton High School graduating class plans a 7:00 p m reunion on Saturday September 25 at Charlie's Cafe. Planning committee members include Mrs Ray Berry Mrs Raymond Lammert Mr and Mrs R Lane Elton J Fort and Robert Hardridge Jr Invitations were sent to former teachers and students who began with the class but did not graduate due to work marriage or other reasons. Those invited from the class are urged to attend and send plates at 260 each by September 22 if possible.

Clifton Mayor Charles Keen Elected Texas Municipal League Director

Mayor Charles M Keen of Clifton was elected director from Region 9 of the Texas Municipal League at a Temple meeting on Thursday night. Region 9 covers 15 Central Texas counties with one director on the league board. Also present were Mayor Pro Tem Jim BR Smith and City Manager Pat meeting with Mayor Isenhower.

Trucker acquitted in Clifton train wreck case

Aubrey L. Butler of Hubbard was found not guilty of negligent homicide in Bosque County Court in Meridian after a trial lasting five hours. The 1964 collision between Butler’s gasoline truck and the Santa Fe Chief at a Clifton crossing killed the engineer Kirby R. Vaughn and another worker, with about 225000 dollars in property damage. The state argued Butler failed to stop at flashing signals. Butler testified he stopped and looked for trains but saw none. Defense counsel included John Sheehy Fred Weekley and JP Ward.

Blue Family Makes Mississippi Trip for University News

Mr. and Mrs. Otis Blue and daughter Penny traveled from Clifton to Jackson Mississippi to visit their son Charles Hive. Charles Blue then went to Oxford to enroll as a freshman at the University of Mississippi. The Blues returned home the same day Charles left.

Mrs. Mark Beeman Dies At 75 In Clifton

Mrs. Mark Beeman aged 75 of 311 North Avenue L Clifton died at 10:45 AM Monday September 13 in an Austin hospital. Funeral services set for September 16 at 10:60 AM in Clifton Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Luke Shira local Church of Christ minister.
