D. Nockols, longtime Texan and former mayor of Whitney, died Sunday at Clifton after a heart attack on his farm east of town. He was 64, born in Texas, spent years in Whitney in mercantile business, later district manager for Community Public Service Company. He was beloved, refined, and known for high ideals.
Five new teachers join Clifton senior high faculty, increasing total to twenty. Names include Garrod, Nell Jenson to teach music at Ils ton Elementary, Mr. Wester from Grayford to teach mathematics and Spanish, and Bertha Clyde Seat from Waco to teach English. Enrollment rises as Spanish classes start amid state textbook shifts and eight grade changes.
The group formerly housed in a school building now relocated to the campus. The 64 by 24 foot structure is being extended with an east wing to become the FFA Building and National Defense center for out of school youth.
