West Shore Fish Fry Supports Community Rescue Work
West Shore Volunteer Fire Department held its fourth Labor Day Fish Fry drawing hundreds to the department. Volunteers served thousands of pounds of fish and French fries, with proceeds funding equipment and operations. Chief Aaron Jones noted the department relies on support to provide fire protection, rescue, and emergency services, including medical responses and water rescues. Bosque Art Classic Opens Saturday With 143 Works
The 24th Bosque Art Classic opens this Saturday featuring 143 paintings and sculptures by artists from across the United States. Clifton’s Mike Irvin and Jack Walker are among four Bosque County creators showcased, with Irvin’s oil piece His Worldly Possessions highlighted after recent national exposure. Irvin, born in Oklahoma, moved to Texas as a child and now lives on land he and his wife Sara purchased in 1990.

Faust at 93 on 10000 miles of stationary bike
Faust, a 93 year old man, claims health is important at all ages. He recently reached 10000 miles on his stationary bike, logged since an October knee injury required surgery. He bikes about 10 miles daily except Sundays and plans to help neighbors and tackle yard work.

CISD Sets '09-'10 Budget and Tax Rate
The CISD board on Monday August 31 approved the 2009 2010 budget and tax rate after two public hearings with no speakers. The tax rate was set at 1 1675/8100 property valuation to raise about 10.17 million dollars, and the budget at 10.411 million plus a 241000 deficit due to anticipated federal income not included in revenue projections.

Septemberfest in Cranfills Gap kicks off Saturday parade
Cranfills Gap hosts Septemberfest for the 32nd year with a Wild Game Cook Off in the park. The parade starts at 10 a.m. from the Lutheran church staging area, with entries including the Color Guard Band riding clubs and the Waco Shriners. Trophies will be awarded to judged entries. Local teams and visitors from California Alaska Colorado and New York will compete and spectators can watch and taste the dishes.

City Council Sets Tax Rate Plan Amid Session Buzz

Annual Norse Smorgasbord Ticket Orders
