Lions Hear About Drug Development
John G. Rickerson of Lederle Laboratories told Clifton Lions Club on August 27 that sulfa and antibiotic drugs saved two million American lives in 20 years. He cited pneumonia deaths as rare and costs under a hundred dollars with antibiotics, noted industry research spending near 194 million last year, and said many compounds were studied to yield useful drugs. He linked longer life expectancy and fewer orphans to medical advances, and announced September 13 game concession stand chairmen for Meridian.
