Rebecca Wittenburg of Lometa is District 8 Farm Bureau Queen for the second year, selected at Clifton Armory on October 31. Other finalists included Doris Schwettmann of Route 3 McGregor and eleven contestants from Bosque, Bell, Williamson, Falls, Travis, Freestone, Limestone, Milam, and Milam counties with about 400 in attendance.

James Sharp 53 Dies of Heart Attack at Gatesville

James Sharp 53 of Route 4 Gatesville died after a heart attack on the night of August 29 while visiting his sister near Gatesville. He was born near Turnersville and survived by brother Cecil Sharp and sister Katherine Gannaway. Funeral services were held August 30 at Scott’s Funeral Home Gatesville with burial in Turnersville Cemetery.

Mrs Laura Nelson aged 89 years 7 months and 23 days of Waco died Thursday night August 29 in Clifton Hall at the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home where she had lived since August 1 1954. Enrollment Surges to 676 in Clifton Schools

Kent Appleby, superintendent of Clifton Public Schools, told the Record that as of Wednesday morning 676 students were enrolled, 653 white and 23 colored, the highest remembered. He noted several more white enrollments were expected.

Mrs Harris Dies In Local Hospital Clifton Woman Passes At 90

Relatives in Bosque County mourn the death of Mrs. George E Harris 90 years old at about 10 35 PM Monday in Clifton's local hospital. A lifelong resident she was active until illness worsened last year and endured surgery last November. Police Chief Reports August Activities in Clifton

Clifton Police Chief James H Bird reports four traffic accidents in August with eight cars, one injury, and property damage totaling 1910. He notes two felony cases cleared with two suspects bonded for grand jury. Two malicious mischief cases involved youths. Chief Bird answered 111 calls. fifteen traffic cases were filed in court.

Isaac Traylor Named Church of Christ Minister

Isaac Traylor began duties as minister of the Church of Christ in Clifton on Sunday September 1, filling the vacancy from James Montgomery. Traylor, with his wife and three children, will reside at Cottage Courts while the parsonage is redecorated. Reesing couple return home after two weeks away
