Lions club heard a talk on radar progress by J. Love Br. at a meal hosted by the Presbyterian Church. Ray Posie and Sgt. Potter shared military service notes, and Dr. Julian Thomas was introduced as the Bosque County Veterinary Surgeon. The group announced the Air Cards program and Raymond Pederson Day for bond and stamp sales.
The public school building hosted a two day ration book issuance last Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Teachers and pupils assisted, including Jeanette Younger Estelle Langston Katie Westley Bobby Wilcox Marabelle Langseth Regina Craith Marinelle Preemen Mary Wonderson and Buddy Hill. A total of 3404 books were issued.
Funeral services were held Wednesday for Louie HL Anderson age 80 who died Tuesday at his daughter Miz John A Noland Crawford twenty miles from Waco. He had lived in the area sixty years surviving a son two daughters including Mrs W W Tubb of Dallas two sisters Mrs E K Kully of Carlton and other relatives. Record mails to brother LA E Z Rice student officer Del Rio Texas.
A birthday gathering was held at Mrs. F Schulze’s home on Tuesday October 46. Friends arrived in the morning and throughout the day for a quilting themed celebration with a noon meal and a late afternoon spread. Guests included Mrs. August Roetachke, Mrs. C B Allen, Mrs. Lydia Larson, Mrs. Lucy Mae Terrell, Mrs. Arnold Ane and children, Mrs. Clay Canuteson, Mrs. Sam Olson, Mrs. Ruby Woodward, Mrs. Allison Olson, Mr. Walter Ans, Mrs. Clarke Botherg, Mrs. H Dewald, Hagel, Mrs. Elmer Larson and Paul Frances, and the honoree. Much appreciation shown for gifts and cards. Also noted visits by Alvin Canuteson and family from Fort Bliss near El Paso, Texas.

Preparations are under way for Bosque County United War Fund drive November 12 to 20 with a county quota of 4100. Garland Davis of Meridian, veteran of two county campaigns, will chair the effort and appoint community chairmen to meet the target. The drive supports 32 relief agencies including USO and War Prisoners Aid, funded by gifts across three fronts, Home Front, Allied Front, and War Front.

Night feature TCU LSU at 7:50 p.m. on KPIZ WRR KRBC KBST KGKL Iaca Waco with Charlie Jordan on play by play and Buddy Bostick on color.
