In a special session the Governor and lawmakers clashed over social and general financing as a tax bill stalled. The conference committee returned a proposal valuing revenue at 240000, with contention over allocations and early funding totaling 96000. The session failed to advance a plan and the House and Senate prepared for further action.
A Mason club event drew visitors from Turnerfield and Meridian for a festive oyster supper after a meeting. Hosts welcomed several guests including R.A. Holder and J. M. Daies, with plans noted for future gatherings and the dedication of a new Masonic building.

In a city incident near the Nelson home WPA workers on Clifton street found chickens that had been roosting on a truck from Eulogy. They flew off at various points while en route, prompting inquiry by residents about the birds’ earlier nightly rooting and the unusual morning departure.
Str and Mrs Tobias Knudson hosted 2 to 6 pm Oct 26 at their rural Route 2 Merid iian home for their Golden Wedding anniversary. Over 100 guests attended including eight children and relatives from Beldenville Corpus Christ and nearby. A program of readings songs and tributes closed with thanks from Tobias Knudson.
FFA officers from Chaput attend the Waco Training School as part of the Westlet program of work. The October event focused on training WPA youth leaders and aligning objectives with local agricultural education efforts.
County Agent Lawrence warns Bosque County producers that cotton subsidy payments for 1987 require all land operated owned or controlled by a producer to be signed up on the 1937 Agricultural Conservation Program with complete worksheets. The county committee will assist but will verify compliance and may withhold payments until all farms are included.
