A drama at Bettis Auditorium Clifton Elementary and Junior High School on November 3 features Valerie Goodall and William Mooney with their 10 year old twins Sean Goodall and William Norvell Mooney. State awards FM 215 project contract in Coryell area

The State Highway and Public Transportation Commission let a highway contract in October for Coryell and Bosque counties. Odell Geer Construction Company of Harker Heights won with a low bid of 494208.87. The 8.1 mile project on Farm to Market Road 215 from White Hall to Mosheim covers grading structures base and surfacing over about 220 working days supervised by District Engineer E Brooks Evans.

Fire Destroyed House at 1113 West 13th Street

An early morning blaze at 1113 West 13th Street on October 20 nearly leveled the home. No injuries occurred as Clifton Volunteer Fire Department units, about 20 firemen, fought the fire. Interior and furnishings were destroyed. only the exterior frame remained. Meridian Volunteer Fire Department aided CVFD Saturday evening in the building fire response.

Break-in at Lumpkins reports theft of change and pistol

Police Chief Alvin James reported a break-in at Lumpkins West 5th Street. Entry was through a back door and about $20 in change along with a .22 pistol were stolen. Arrests followed for an adult male from Wharton County on October 19 with eight bad check warrants.
