Sunset Home marks its twelfth anniversary with a celebration starting at 2:00 PM this Saturday October 29 at the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home. The event features guest speakers, light refreshments, and tours of the facility.
Texas residents report telemarketing gimmicks offering magazine prizes paid by an advertising group. A caller claimed a prize based on answered TV favorites and charged 35 cents weekly for 60 weeks, totaling 21 dollars, to cover mailing costs. Authorities advise skepticism and verification before buying.
Jim Bill Harris came home Wednesday after attending the Dallas Cowboys at St Louis and visiting Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Lane for a few days following the game last Sunday.
Frank A. Freeman 59 of 207 South Avenue K Clifton died at 6 15 am Tuesday October 25 in the local hospital after illness since September 20. He moved to Clifton recently and was a farmer. Funeral services were held October 26 at 9 30 am at Clifton Funeral Home Chapel with Luke W Shira minister of the Church of Christ officiating. Graveside services followed at 4 30 pm at Christoval Cemetery in Christoval.
The United Church Women of Bosque County will observe World Community Day at 2 9 o clock in Valley Mills First Methodist Church. Guest speaker will be Mrs Earl Button Secretary of Christian Social Relations for the South Central Jurisdiction of the Methodist Church.

Clifton High School's Cubs prepare for a district football showdown at Cub Stadium Friday at 7 30 p m against Itasca High Wampus Cats. Itasca tied Whitney 14 14 in a recent game and lost 36 14 to Glen Rose, per coach Aubrey T Roberts who praises Itasca as a balanced outfit.

Members of the Clifton Civic Improvement Society will attend a Thanksgiving program by Clifton Public School music students directed by Mrs Patsy Ruth Lancaster. J August Bernhardt 79 of 314 North Avenue S Clifton died at 7:00 PM Saturday October 22 after a stroke following hospital treatment. Born February 28, 1887 in Chase community Bosque County, he spent his life there. He was son of August and Caroline Bernhardt pioneer settlers.
The Central Texas Fair Association will hold its annual meeting at 7 30 PM on Thursday October 27 in the Clifton City Hall dining room. The 1966 Central Texas Fair and Rodeo will be discussed and officers for the coming year will be named. Members are urged to attend to avoid another meeting being scheduled.
Eleven members of the Clifton Chapter of the Future Farmers of America sent broilers to the State Fair of Texas in Dallas. Prize money and ribbons were awarded to Alan Draper Willie Stacha Cliff Dyer Wayne Prescher Milton Cranfill Eddie Bean Martin Hampe Sammy Mann Larry Mueller Harry Willmann and Melvin Prescher for various blue and red ribbon broiler entries.
