Local papers warn that cars are stolen or burned daily, with many incidents unreported. A Clifton family’s car was shot at, and another car vanished on a daytime street crime. Insurance policies offer replacement, urging readers to get coverage.
The Port of Resolutions committee of Institute expresses sincere thanks to Meridian Independent School officials and Superintendent W A York for school leadership during institute. It praises A D Clark and speakers, notes appreciation for Dr Bedichouk, and thanks Mive Glame and Mr Cobb of Waco for rancher education work. It endorses new physical training and praises Bosque County cooperation with the State Department of Education.
An afterglow party marked the Cubs victory as Mine Meargerst hosted friends on Friday night October 10 at Walnut. Music filled the hall, with dancing, cream and songs, as attendees including Mollie Nelson Abe Margaret Polk Bene Ne Orase and others joined in the festive atmosphere amid lively chatter and recollections of the game.
Ban Angelo reports the National Wool Marketing Corporation announced first prices for wool since its formation eight months ago. Two million pounds of wool and eight months’ wool have been sold at 10 cents per choice and No 1. The corporation shipped 2,000,000 pounds of Fall Wool and 6,760,000 pounds of Fall mohair to Boston with annual totals expected near 89,000,000 pounds. Mohair prices averaged 40 cents per pound, with holders seeking higher. Co operatives hold 10,800,000 pounds of mohair and growers expect two to three cents per pound more in advance. If current prices hold, new scale advances on wool and goat products were announced. The Bosque County Growers Cooperative, Alan of Clifton, organized last spring by A C Brandes, shipped wool and mohair to the National Wool Marketing Corporation and members will receive extra payments, higher than non members.
Despite rain, Mosheim event organizers pulled off the annual Pride fair with exhibits of cattle sheep oats corn ducks and canned goods. Highlights included a display of cotton and related textiles and a special feature piece for aspiring exhibitors.
The Bosque County Teachers Institute in Meridian and nearby communities drew praise for its regular season and inspiring addresses by Dr. Roy Bedtehe and Supt B B Cobb. The Meridian high team remained undefeated after routing Walnut Springs, while upcoming games against Gatesville loom large. The Texas State Teachers Association plans a Houston meeting November 27 29 with noted educators and scholars set to attend.
The ST Olaf Lutheran Church will hold a service next Saturday October 1 at 3 am in the parlors led by Rev P E Indy Bins. A prayer meeting every Friday at 9 80 in the evening. If weather permits, next Monday will begin the year’s work with Cres Pastor.

Grandma Mary Grimland of Tur city died after long illness in the home of her daughter Clara. Survived by John Bawon Gaterville and M Bf among others. Funeral at 2:90 and Trinity Lutheran Church at 3:10 with Rev C Te Won officiating and interment in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Further details to appear in next issue.
One hundred fifty nine teachers gathered at Meridian High School for a two day Institute. Presiding officers and clergy led devotional sessions, with praise for speakers like B B Cobb Nina B Glass and J W Nation. The program highlighted character building and university extension services to assist local schools.
