Norwegians of Central Texas Founding Churches History
The Norse community began in 1848 at Four Mile and grew with settlers to Bosque County, forming Our Savior's, St. Olaf's and Trinity congregations. Early pastors were few, with lay baptism by Jens Ringness and Ole Pierson. By 1901 the region housed about 450 Norwegians, with church buildings evolving from wood halls to brick structures and parsonages through 1960s.
