Lake Whitney Association Names New Officers

New officers of the Lake Whitney Association were elected and installed at the September general meeting. Ray Gay of Whitney was named president, with vice presidents Bob Sechrist of Laguna Park and J. W. Mahon of Whitney. Virginia Latham of Whitney was secretary and Bill Woodside of Whitney treasurer.

Zip Code Week Encourages Filling Missing Codes

Clifton residents and rural mail customers receive no postage needed cards to list frequently used addresses with missing Zip Codes. Postmaster Robert Baldridge Jr says to mail back completed cards for proper codes, aiding timely deliveries during the holiday rush. Lions Sponsor Two Clifton Events on October 25

The Clifton Lions Club will host a household items sale from the Texas Blind Shops Caravan at City Hall from 9:00 A M to 3:00 P M. At 8:00 P M the Bettis Auditorium will feature Valerie Goodall and William Mooney in Since Adam and Eve. Proceeds fund Clifton community projects and half of the show revenue goes to the Lions. Tickets go on sale later this week with adults 2.00 and children 1.00.

Atkinson Wins Farm-To-Market Road Contract

The State Highway Commission awarded a 6 764 mile contract on FM 2602 and FM 2960 in Bosque and Hill Counties to J P Atkinson Inc of Clifton for 185 447 03 dollars. Brooks Evans says grading base and surfacing will take 120 working days under T H Ralph who oversees construction. The project links FM 2602 from 5.1 miles southwest of State Highway 6 to FM 2171 north of Mosheim and from State Highway 22 near Whitney through Prairie Valley on these FM roads.

Clifton Chapter FFA members posted strong results at the Heart of Texas Fair Barrow Show in Waco. C. L. Conrad won Champion and Reserve Champion Berkshire barrows, plus top heavyweights. other placings included Duroc and Hampshire entries by Clifton youths. Judge was Donald Osburn of Texas A&M University. 117 barrows entered.
