Clifton Highs Cubs defeated the favored 2A Hamilton Bulldogs 14 to 6 in Hamilton last Friday night. The win featured four standout plays including two blocked punts by Jim Thompson a 42 yard TD pass and run by Larry Grimland and Robert Ledlow and a momentum shifting Clifton line stand.

Clifton Man Injured In Jeep Crash Near Clifton Texas

Herbert Ender of Route 1 Clifton suffered serious injuries in a jeep accident on Farm To Market Road 708 two and a half miles southeast of Clifton. He sustained a fractured left leg back injuries and cuts and was taken to a Clifton hospital where surgery was needed. Police reported the jeep rolled after losing control on a curve around 2 15 Tuesday afternoon.

A. G. Parker Dies in Clifton Funeral Held for Parker

A. G. Parker 51 of 614 West 3rd Street Clifton died Friday morning September 30 in the local hospital after a months battle with a heart attack. Born January 1 1915 in Cleburne he lived there before moving to Clifton with his wife a year ago. He worked at E. E. Stewart Motors as a paint and body repairman. Survived by wife three daughters Mary Toten Clifton Daphna Hart Fort Worth Janie Fletcher Corpus Christi and son Jimmy Parker Indianapolis and nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held October 2 at Crozier Pearson Funeral Home Chapel Cleburne with burial at Grange Hall Cemetery Rio Vista.

David Knitt Joins Air Force ROTC Flying Course

David Knitt son of Reverend and Mrs Erwin H Knitt of 315 South Avenue J Clifton is named to take part in a special Air Force ROTC flying course at Southwest Texas State College San Marcos. The SWTSC junior math major must complete 362 hours of actual flying time after passing demanding tests.

Clifton Seeks New Fire Truck For Station Upgrade

Clifton will receive a new fire truck built on a 1967 Chevrolet chassis. Fire Chief George M. Harris says the vehicle should be ready in six to eight weeks, joining a 1958 Ford and a 1962 Chevrolet in service. The 1946 Dodge will be sold, with Turnersville among potential buyers. The Harris family visited San Antonio and San Marcos during the project.

Bids Awarded For Road Projects In Bosque County Texas

J P Atkinson Inc of Clifton submitted the low bid of 185447.03 for road work from Lanes Channel to Mosheim and from HWY 22 to Prairie Valley Camp. Other bids ranged up to 256082.03. The project covers 6.764 miles of grading foundations and surfaces across Bosque and Hill counties with work to start after award in ten days.

Mr. McDougal Receives Lone Star Degree at Clifton Fair

On the final day of the 1966 Central Texas Fair and Rodeo in Clifton Homer McDougal, fair association president, was awarded the Honorary Lone Star Farmer Degree by Gerald Peacock for his service to FFA youth. The Clifton FFA chapter earned the State Gold Emblem Award 1965-66 for meeting its goals, presented by Bill Childers at the district meeting September 21.

Ford Motor 1966 Punt and Kick Contests Set for Clifton

Ford Motor Company event sponsored by E. E. Stewart Motors will hold the 1966 Punt and Kick contest at Cub Stadium in Clifton at 9:00 AM Saturday. Local, district, area, division and national levels lead to NFL Playoffs with finals in Washington and a trip to the Orange Bowl. Harvest Carnival Planned Oct 13 at Clifton Public Schools

The annual Harvest Carnival hosted by the Clifton Public Schools PTA will run Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the cafeteria and classrooms with an 8:00 PM Bettis Auditorium program titled Steamboat's a Comin. The high school cast includes Bobby Morton and Sue Krueger. Volunteers from Third Grade parents will staff food booths and service windows 6:00–8:00 PM.
