Clifton High School choir performs a modern folk musical Tell It Like It Is on Tuesday October 26 at 7 30 p m in Bettis Auditorium Clifton. Director Patsy Lancaster describes the show as a modern telling of God s love for man.
School Supt Kent Appleby announced that wage price freeze rules reset Clifton football ticket prices for remaining games to 1.25 dollars. Adult general admission and gate tickets are 1.25 dollars, student advance tickets are 0.50 dollars, with no student tickets sold at the gate. The district had planned a price increase before the season but government ruling prevented it.
Clifton’s Cubs, riding a late surge after two rough starts, prepare to host the Joshua Owls on the Bosque Friday. Joshua enters 3-1, with key players like Jim Thomas and Terry Allen returning. Cubs’ James Campbell and Rickey Bakke are sidelined by knee injuries. The Owls beat Alvarado 18-6 and Glen Rose 25-0. Cubs seek to avenge last season’s 1 loss to Joshua.

The First Baptist Church in Clifton invites high school and junior high students to a post game fellowship after the Joshua game on Friday night October 8. Entertainment will be provided by Joe Miller, an all state athlete from East Texas and Baylor University senior.
Santa Fe Railway official Larry Rundell says repairs will smooth two Clifton crossings but take time. He notes cross arms and lowering gates cost up to 50000 dollars per multi track crossing and would slow traffic, though he concedes safety devices are not foolproof and not cheap.
Marvin Wilson, former postmaster general under President Johnson, will deliver the keynote at the Governor's Conference on Industrial Expansion in Austin. Winners of the industrial expansion awards include Jimmy Dean Meat Company Plainview Levi Strauss Amarillo Sprayberry Handbags Clifton German Peanuts and Vintage Home Breckenridge. The event at Austin Municipal Auditorium opens at 11 a.m. October 13 with Gov Preston Smith announcing five top Texas industries. The two day meeting features talks on urban and rural development international business and housing issues.
Congress and the Texas Legislature designated the second and fourth Mondays in October as public holidays. Oscar Lindemann of Dallas, president of the Texas Bankers Association, says banks including Farmers State Bank in Clifton and First Security State Bank in Crawford Gap will observe the new holidays. The changes align Texas with federal law and with most other states. 1971 marks the first year the public holidays apply to banks and post offices.
Albert Hastings of rants Gap received praise from W H Standifer for his leadership as chairman of the Central Texas Economic Development District. The 12 projects cited included a Brazos River Authority sewer plan and a water improvement program in Texas, with Hastings praised for extending the EDA program two more years.
The UIL released the official listing of District 10AA teams including Clifton McGregor Connally Midway Robinson and West. Football classifications for the next two years are due next month with Clifton expected to be placed in Class IA.
