Briscoe Grants Support Regional Criminal Justice Plan
Governor Dolph Briscoe approved two Heart of Texas Council of Governments and Bosque County grants totaling 77 352 for 1978. HOTCOG receives 29 746 for planning and a 47 606 upgrade of the Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications Network across Bosque Falls McLennan and Freestone counties and Waco Hillsboro Mexia police departments. The locally funded awards were part of 121 statewide Crime Control Act grants from Law Enforcement Assistance Administration funds.

Break in fails at Schmidt-Meyer Chevrolet building
An attempted break in at Schmidt-Meyer Chevrolet, 329 West 5th St, was interrupted by Officer Steve Aston who found a ladder and a partially opened rear window but no entry. Three adult males were arrested, fined, and released after a disturbance on South Ave A. The trio appeared before Judge W. H. Lively on misdemeanor disturbance charges. No injuries reported in two motor vehicle accidents on Thursday.
