Breakdown includes $28,963.08 state tax, $67,271.83 county tax, $2,735.70 road tax, $58,971.90 school tax, with Meridian School at $9,980.47. Poll tax receipts were $55. The October discount was 3 percent totaling $4,519.49. November will have 2 percent and December 1 percent.

Fire damages home from floor furnace blaze
A smoldering fire likely started by a floor furnace in Mrs. Sanders Aanenson’s home caused interior damage and ruined clothing for Mrs. Aanenson and her daughter Sandra. Billy Harvey alerted the alarm. firefighters forced entry due to dense smoke. Insurance may cover much of the repairs and redecorating.

Bosque County Raises Wolf Bounty and Cuts Rattlesnake Pay
The Bosque County Commissioners Court raised the wolf bounty from 25 to 40 dollars and reduced rattlesnake pay from 50 to 25 cents while leaving bobcat bounty at 10 dollars. Effective November 13, 1961, wolf and bobcat killings require signatures from the killer and the landowner. Over the past year payouts totaled about 5013 dollars for 70 wolves 112 bobcats and 2636 rattlesnakes.

Livestock Groups Organize Fight Against Screwworm in Bosque County

Reverend Canute T. Jenson Dies at 74 in Clifton
Relatives in Bosque County report the death of Reverend Canute T. Jenson aged 74 years 1 month 14 days from a heart attack on November 13 at his Clifton Sunset Home residence. Jenson served as Sunset Home chaplain since 1957 after a long Lutheran ministry across North Dakota Minnesota and Texas. He is survived by wife five sons one daughter three brothers two sisters and ten grandchildren. Funeral services were held November 16 at Clifton and Cranfills Gap churches.

TB Seal Sale Opens In Bosque County Saturday
The annual Tuberculosis Seal Sale Drive in Bosque County begins Saturday, November 18, as the association mails 1,700 letters with seals. Chairwoman Mrs. R. C. Reierson of Crawfish Gap leads, with Crawfish Gap 4H members helping prepare letters. Funds fund county TB tests, skin and patch tests planned in county schools and at least one community. Clifton High Band Wins First Division at Ennis Regional
Clifton High School band earned a first division rating at the Region III marching contest in Ennis with 45 marchers led by drum major Charlene Meyer.
