Tonight at 6 30 p m all able bodied men are urged to join a two hour repair session for the town Christmas lights. Rudy Johnson chairing the lighting committee calls for extra help Sunday at dawn to install the holiday lights with linemen from Community Public Service Co Clifton Telephone Co and company boom trucks. Laymen are needed to string lights and replace bulbs as they go up.

First Day Deer Kill Surges in Clifton Area
Over 100 deer were killed early in the season with 40 delivered to Clifton Locker Plant on day one and 86 by noon Wednesday. The tally excludes deer sent to other lockers or butchered locally, and those taken by distant hunters. Local men named include Dick White, Billy Joe Raines, and Harold Lee.

Industrial expert to speak at county meet
James E Heath of Austin, senior industrial consultant for the Texas Industrial Commission, will keynote the county wide industrial and economic development meeting in the Me ridian district court room next Tuesday at 7 30 p m. Laguna Park Burglary Loot Recovered Promptly
The Shields' General Store was burglarized at about 1 a.m. Monday with $1798.76 in goods and cash stolen. By 11 a.m. most merchandise had been recovered and returned. Robert Earl Thomas and Willie Ray Morris, both 21 of Meridian, were arrested and charged with burglary. The loot included a TV set 11 watches cigarettes and cash.

Harvest Carnival Planned by Clifton PTA November 20

Suspect Nabbed Sleeping With Gun In Car
Willie Tan Newsome Jr 20 was arrested in Bosque County while asleep in a car with a pistol beside him. Charged with burglary in Morgan for a theft at Buster Thompson Service Station about a month earlier, tools valued around 1800 were taken. Sheriff Joan Baxter said a tip led to the arrest with deputies and highway patrol help. He slept in a Brazos River area house when found with a .22 revolver.
