Twirling Contest Set for Clifton High Saturday
Clifton High School will send eleven soloists and four ensembles to the University Interscholastic League Region VIII Twirling Contest starting at 10 00 Saturday at McGregor High School. Cubs routed Itasca 0 to 8 in a district showdown last Friday night at the Wampus Cats' tame Coming. James Haywood gave the Cubs a 57 yard TD run on the second play and Barry Forson added a 59 yard score on a reverse. Forson caught three TD passes from Larry Grimland as the Cubs rolled to the district win and sit in a three way tie with Clifton and Glen Rose.

Thirty five Polled Herefords sold for an average of 311.00 with 23 bulls at 348.00 and 12 females at 24.00. Ace Hi Golden Hoof Ranch claimed both the champion bull Ace Hi Silver Mischief 411 at 730.00 and reserve champion 406 at 500.00. Other top lots included GHA Mesa Return 555 at 530.00 and Mesa Lamplighter 145 at 500.00. Champion female Silver Doll brought 355.00 to W R Johnson Polled Hereford Ranch. reserve Mischief Maid 34 sold for 200.00. Officials called it their best sale in five years.
